Job description

Job Title: Built Environment Lecturer

Location: London

Contract Type: Temporary, Part-Time and Full-Time Opportunities Available

Hourly Rate: Up to £42 per hour


About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Built Environment Lecturer to join our teaching team on a temporary contract, with both part-time and full-time roles available. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across a range of built environment subjects, supporting learners in developing the technical and professional skills needed for careers in architecture, construction management, civil engineering, and related fields.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and relevant lessons in built environment subjects (e.g., construction technology, design, surveying, sustainability)
  • Develop teaching materials and assessments in line with curriculum and industry standards
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and academic support
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment
  • Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and course improvement initiatives
  • Support learners with progression to higher education or employment pathways

Requirements:

  • A degree or relevant qualification in a Built Environment discipline (e.g., Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering)
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed) or willingness to work towards one
  • Industry experience in the built environment or construction sector
  • Strong communication, planning, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to engage and support a diverse range of learners

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching in a further or higher education setting
  • Assessor and/or Internal Verifier qualifications (e.g., TAQA, A1, V1)
  • Familiarity with current industry tools such as CAD, BIM, and surveying technology
  • Understanding of sustainability, building regulations, and health & safety standards
