Vacancy Title: Buildings Surveyor - Customer Services and Maintenance Team

The Role

Reporting to the Surveying Service Manager, to undertake a variety of building surveys, inspections and audits to the organisation\'s stock and assets, including new build projects. Responsible for the effective diagnosis, recording and monitoring of works in relation to structural movement/failure.

Key Accountabilities and Job Content
  • To fulfil the requirements as set out within the Tier 6 role profile
  • Undertake pre and post inspection surveys in line with survey demands, including tenants\' alterations, in line with programme requirements and operating plans
  • Undertake building surveys and produce good quality written technical reports along with detailed drawings
  • Ad-hoc surveys as and when requested by other internal & external stakeholders
  • Prepare detailed specifications and drawings relating to identified works, including the preparation of building regulation and planning applications
  • Carry out surveys relating to Party Wall issues and advise stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Building Surveying
  • Member of the RICS/CIOB (desirable)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience relating to building pathology coupled with experience and knowledge of structural defects and the methods relating to non-destructive testing
  • Sound knowledge of pertinent legislation including Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Demonstrates a working style that complements multi-disciplinary team working with strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Detailed knowledge of the whole range of Building Surveys specific to role
  • Good understanding of the organisation\'s business activities with particular regard to the Financial, People, IT, Governance, Health & Safety, Environmental and Equality & Diversity requirements
  • Effective use of IT and MS Office applications
  • Good understanding of value for money principles
  • Able to prioritise to achieve realistic targets, costs and time deadlines
  • An understanding of project development and management
  • Good problem solving and analytical ability
  • Full UK driving license
