This is a fantastic opportunity to join a tight-knit team in one of London’s most iconic locations. As Facilities Manager, you will take the lead in managing the maintenance and enhancement of Warwick Business School’s physical facilities at The Shard, ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-quality environment for staff, students, and visitors.
With plenty of autonomy, you’ll act as the single point of contact for all facilities-related matters, liaising with internal stakeholders across the University, external contractors, and our landlord. You'll ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, University policies, and landlord requirements—balancing operational excellence with a strategic approach to continuous improvement.
This is a varied and fast-paced role where your project management expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail will make a meaningful impact on day-to-day operations and the overall user experience.

About You
We are seeking to appoint a
Buildings and Facilities Manager on a
part-time basis to take a leading role in managing and enhancing the physical infrastructure of Warwick Business School’s London Base at
The Shard. The successful candidate will ensure a safe, compliant, and high-quality environment for staff, students, and visitors, working in close partnership with colleagues across the University and external stakeholders.
This is a pivotal position, requiring someone with a strong background in facilities management, building operations, and compliance within complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You will act as the
single point of contact for all matters relating to facilities and estates at The Shard, coordinating maintenance, supporting space planning and refurbishment projects, and helping ensure statutory and landlord compliance is maintained at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Should Demonstrate The Following Qualities
- Significant experience in facilities or estates management, ideally within higher education or a similarly complex organisational structure.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance, health and safety regulations, and landlord/tenant responsibilities.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead on refurbishments, manage service contracts, and coordinate both planned and reactive maintenance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, service providers, and senior management.
- Proven ability to manage risks, respond to incidents, and develop robust operational procedures and emergency response plans.
- A proactive, customer-focused mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.
Experience managing or supporting off-site facilities, or working in a landlord-tenant model, would be an advantage.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the facilities services across two floors of The Shard, supporting space planning and accommodation needs, overseeing events and usage of the site, and ensuring that all facilities meet the operational and strategic needs of Warwick Business School.
