Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Building Surveyor to join the High Rise Management and Investment team at Waverley Court. The role focuses on surveying, contract management and delivery of a £250m retrofit programme across 50 high‑rise blocks, with major fire safety and fabric upgrade works.

You will work with external design teams, attend resident meetings, and contribute to the ongoing sustainability goals while upholding health and safety standards and best practice in retrofit

Qualifications

• Qualified Building Surveyor or relevant field (e.g. Architect, Technical Lead, or Contract/Project Manager).
• Experience running live projects through to completion with project management and contract administration preferred.
• Knowledge of procurement, surveying, repair methodology and report writing; able to explain technical reports at face-to-face meetings with tenants/owners.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of building surveying and contract management services to the 50 council high-rise blocks.
• Lead and support large retrofit and upgrade projects across the high-rise estate with external design teams and contractors.
• Manage design commissions at various RIBA stages and oversee fire improvement and fabric upgrade programmes.
• Represent the team in meetings with residents and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and progress.
