Property Surveyor – Building Maintenance & Project Lead (Home-Based, Scotland)

Location: Home-based (Ideally based in Central Scotland for ease of travel)

Hours: 36.25 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £38,846 – £48,919 per annum -Progression beyond this point possible subject to satisfactory performance, experience, and skills gained in the role

About the Role

As a key member of our Property Services team, you’ll lead and deliver a range of surveying and maintenance activities across Barnardo’s diverse property portfolio. From project planning to compliance management, you’ll help ensure our spaces are safe, effective, and aligned with the charity’s goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a comprehensive property maintenance and management service.
  • Lead complex building projects and programmes of work.
  • Conduct inspections and oversee the design and execution of refurbishments and fit-outs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building standards, legislation, and health and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager – Surveying Services to foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and knowledge sharing.
  • Respond to maintenance queries and manage issues swiftly and effectively.

What We’re Looking For

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Building, Surveying, or Construction. Professional qualifications also considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale property portfolios.
  • Proven success in leading complex building maintenance and construction projects.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel as needed across Scotland and potentially the UK.
