Job summary

Buckingham Futures is seeking a skilled Damp and Mould Surveyor to join a Repairs Team focused on resolving issues in residential housing. The role includes conducting inspections and managing remedial works to improve housing conditions, enhance tenant wellbeing, and ensure compliance with legislation.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Solid understanding of building defects and damp-related issues.
  • Experience in housing repairs, diagnostics, or property maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of relevant housing and health & safety legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections to assess causes of damp, mould, and condensation.
  • Specify and manage remedial works, ensuring compliance and high-quality delivery.
  • Produce reports, technical documentation, and cost estimates.
  • Carry out pre-, mid-, and post-inspections to monitor works and contractor performance.
  • Liaise with tenants, contractors, and internal teams for case resolution.

Duration: 28 weeks with likelihood of an extension

Buckingham Futures is seeking a skilled and proactive Damp and Mould Surveyor to join our client's Repairs Team. This role is focused on identifying, diagnosing, and resolving damp, mould, and condensation issues across residential housing stock.

You will play a key part in improving housing conditions, enhancing tenant wellbeing, reducing legal claims, and ensuring compliance with housing legislation and health standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed inspections to assess causes of damp, mould, and condensation
  • Specify and manage remedial works, ensuring compliance and high-quality delivery
  • Produce reports, technical documentation, and cost estimates
  • Carry out pre-, mid-, and post-inspections to monitor works and contractor performance
  • Liaise with tenants, contractors, and internal teams for case resolution
  • Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation, including the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 and HHSRS
  • Contribute to complaint and disrepair case management
  • Use inspection tools and asset databases to log and track case progress

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Solid understanding of building defects and damp-related issues
  • Experience in housing repairs, diagnostics, or property maintenance
  • Working knowledge of relevant housing and health & safety legislation
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and report writing skills
  • Ability to manage caseloads independently and work collaboratively with others
  • Proficient with IT systems and digital inspection tools
  • Prior experience handling disrepair claims
