Job summary

A West Sussex-based Council is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to support a critical programme aimed at tackling backlog issues relating to voids and damp & mould cases. The successful candidate must have proven skills in surveying, strong regulatory knowledge, and effective stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in surveying and specifying housing repair or void-related works.
• Strong working knowledge of NHF SOR, CDM Regulations, and capital works processes.
• Ability to manage contractors and ensure quality delivery.

Building Surveyor – Council in West Sussex
£28.00 PAYE / £35.00 Umbrella / Deemed LTD (Inside IR35)
37 hours per week
Temporary, Ongoing Contract – ASAP Start

We are working with a West Sussex-based Council who are looking to bring in an experienced Building Surveyor to support a programme of work across voids and damp & mould cases. This role is critical to helping the council reduce its backlog of long-term voids and capital works.

Responsibilities:

Survey and specify capital works for long-term voids, standard voids, and damp & mould cases
Produce specifications using the NHF Schedule of Rates
Manage the delivery of works via contractors and DLO teams
Sign off completed works and hand back voids for occupation
Work collaboratively with Housing and Operational teams to prioritise and programme works
Provide regular updates and reporting on:

Project progress and contractor performance
Spend vs budget
Health & Safety compliance (CDM 2015 & Building Safety Act 2022)
Customer satisfactionRequirements:
