Job summary

CIH International Housing Group in Bristol is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Building Consultancy team. You will manage a diverse client base, provide complete surveying services, and contribute to developing the business through fee generation and high-quality client advice.

The role involves client liaison, project management, and delivering surveys for commercial and residential assets, with professional guidance to junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Motivated and ambitious building surveyor with experience in a commercial consultancy setting.
• Ideally RICS Chartered, with experience advising on residential and agricultural assets.
• Understanding of local and national markets to support client advice.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and produce reports across sites.
• Excellent at managing internal and external clients and coaching junior team members.
• Driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide full building surveying service to external clients and in-house when required.
• Support and advise other members of the Building Consultancy Department; share workload as needed.
• Carry out building surveys of commercial and residential properties.
• Prepare Schedules of Dilapidations and negotiate with opposing clients/representatives.
• Project management, contract administration and design for refurbishment, conversion and new build projects.
• Prepare and issue feasibility studies with other disciplines.
• Undertake Principal Designer role for small projects to comply with CDM 2015.
• Provide Party Wall services to Building and Adjoining owners.
• Prepare Schedules of Condition and negotiate with opposing clients' representatives.

We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our growing Building Consultancy team in Bristol operating for a diverse range of clients including blue chip organisations, private clients, public sector and rural estates. As an ambitious and growing business, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can establish themselves and make a significant contribution to developing this business. Your key responsibilities will include assisting in generating fees through the management and development of existing and new clients, whilst contributing towards the achievement of key objectives for the wider team. Main tasks:

• Provide a full building surveying service to the external clients of Carter Jonas and in house where required.
• Provide support and advice to other members of the Building Consultancy Department and assist with workload sharing where necessary.
• Carry out Building Surveys of all types of commercial buildings and residential properties.
• Preparation of Schedules of Dilapidations and subsequent negotiations with opposing clients and professional representatives.
• Project management, Contract Administration and design for refurbishment, conversion and new build projects for commercial, rural and residential premises.
• Prepare and issue feasibility studies working with other disciplines as necessary.

What will it take to be successful?

You will be a motivated and ambitious building surveyor, ideally who is RICS Chartered, with experience in a commercial consultancy setting, ideally with experience of advising on residential and agricultural assets as well. You will have an understanding of the local and national markets to support your advice the clients. As an experienced building surveyor, you have the ability to manage multiple projects as well as producing reports across the different sites. You will be excellent at managing clients both internally and externally, with the ability to also support and coach junior members of the team. A driving license is essential for this role.
