Building Surveyor – Damp, Mould & Disrepair

Location: Hampshire

Contract: Ongoing temporary contract

Rate: £23 per hour PAYE / £30 per hour Umbrella / Deemed LTD (Inside IR35)

We are currently working with a local council in Hampshire who are seeking a skilled and motivated Building Surveyor to take ownership of a key work stream within our Housing Operations team, specifically focusing on Damp, Mould and Disrepair.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining and improving the quality of our council-owned, managed and leased housing stock. You will provide a high-quality, customer-focused surveying service, ensuring the delivery of effective repairs, voids, planned maintenance, and project works in line with the Council’s strategic priorities, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Damp, Mould & Disrepair work stream, taking full responsibility for all associated surveying activity.
  • Deliver a professional service for the repair, maintenance, improvement and re-servicing of housing stock.
  • Support the effective delivery of responsive repairs, void property works, planned maintenance, and refurbishment projects.
  • Carry out detailed inspections, diagnose defects and specify appropriate remedial works.
  • Supervise contractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification, and on budget.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams, residents, leaseholders, and external partners.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks, including CDM, H&S, and housing standards.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A qualified construction professional (ONC/HNC or higher in Building Studies/Construction).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in building maintenance, with knowledge of damp, mould, and disrepair issues.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation including health & safety, housing standards, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
  • A collaborative and customer-first approach with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
