Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Building Surveyor to join our Southampton team and contribute to Defence, Blue Light, Education and housing projects. You’ll manage client relationships while delivering surveys, schedules and professional services across regions, applying JCT/NEC contracts and maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role offers flexible and remote working options within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment that values development and progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Building Surveying (RICS accredited).
• Significant building surveying experience.
• Experience managing clients with profitability awareness.
• Drafting of technical documents, specifications and drawings.
• Knowledge of health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide a range of building surveying duties across regional projects.
• Apply standard forms of building contract (JCT/NEC).
• Ensure quality, safety and environmental standards in survey work.
• Line management, mentoring and training of junior staff.
• Support senior managers in day-to-day activities.
• Carry out surveys, inspections, schedules and portfolio management.

Your purpose will be to work alongside our existing building surveying team in Southampton, working on Defence, Blue Light, Education and housing projects. With project values ranging from £10k - £3million. Our work is varied and it is an exciting time to join a growing team.

Your role

• Working across several regional projects in different sectors, providing a range of building surveying duties.
• Using and applying standard forms of building contract, such as JCT and NEC.
• Understanding the principles of quality, safety and the environment in survey, design and management of projects and portfolios.
• Line management, mentoring and training Junior Building Surveying staff.
• Supporting the senior managers in their day-to-day activities.
• Carrying out surveys, inspections, schedules, provide professional services and managing regional schemes.

About you

• A B.Sc. (Hons) in Building Surveying or a similar RICS accredited degree.
• Sound technical surveying knowledge and significant building surveying experience.
• Experience managing clients with a strong understanding of profitability, business development and sound commercial awareness.
• Sound knowledge drafting technical documents, including asset reviews, feasibility studies, specifications, and drawings.
• A full understanding of Health and Safety requirements and Statutory Compliance.
• Excellent time management, punctuality, and commitment to getting the job done.
• Enthusiasm to seek new learning opportunities to keep skills and knowledge current, enjoy supporting colleagues with their development.
• Contribute to a positive, friendly environment, helping to build relationships across teams and with clients. You respect other points of view and seek out the best results in discussions.
