Job Purpose

The role will sit within the Surveying Estates Team, working closely alongside the Project Management Team. With increasing growth in our professional surveying workload within the educational, commercial and residential sector, we are looking to expand our small team with an experienced Surveyor to undertake core building surveying duties, mentor and support/develop current team members, oversee their workload, and undertake other duties to deliver the professional service that Munday & Cramer provide. This may lead to a potential management role for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead on undertaking core building surveying duties, including producing condition surveys, specialist defect inspections, asset management plans, and RICS Level 2 building survey reports.
  2. Produce high-quality, detailed survey reports to assess the condition of buildings, identify defects, and advise on repairs, maintenance, or restoration, including energy efficiency, environmental impact, and preservation of historical or architectural features.
  3. Develop and expand the Company’s professional surveying services.
  4. Mentor and develop current team members and oversee their workload.
  5. Assist during peak times with school condition surveys and reports to support funding opportunities, collaborating with the Project Management team.

Skills and Knowledge Required for this Role
Essential
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • In-depth experience in conducting RICS Level 2 building surveying reports and related surveys
  • Recognised professional RICS qualification (related to Building Surveying)
  • Experience achieving organisational targets and demonstrating commercial awareness
  • Ability to produce accurate, high-quality reports meeting client and business needs
  • Self-motivated with initiative, able to meet deadlines, and work as part of a team
  • Experience in small or low-level team management
  • Highly organized with effective time management skills
  • Professional communication with clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • DBS clearance
  • Valid UK Driving License
Desirable
  • Chartered MRICS
  • Experience with specialist survey reports for capital funding bids, especially in educational settings
  • Key client management experience
  • Understanding of surveying challenges in active educational environments
