Job summary

A leading consulting firm in London seeks an experienced Building Surveyor to manage projects for local authority clients. You'll be responsible for overseeing traditional project management duties, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Applicants should be Chartered Surveyors or possess equivalent experience with over 5 years in building surveying, focusing on Listed Buildings and maintenance works.

Qualifications

• 5+ years post qualification experience in building surveying.
• Strong knowledge of project delivery in maintenance and refurbishment.
• Experience in managing contracts and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare specifications and working drawings.
• Manage meetings and oversee site work.

Job description

Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Building Surveyor to work with one of our Local Authority clients in London.

What the job will be doing

• Provide traditional project management and building surveying duties. Liaising with all team members to ensure that projects are delivered from inception to completion including settlement of the final account, on time, within budget and are on scope.
• Prepare and provide specification of works and working drawings for a variety of maintenance and refurbishment works.
• Good working knowledge of statutory applications (planning, building Regulations, Listed building applications)
• Attending and managing meetings, overseeing work on site, contract administrator, specification writing, tendering/procurement procedures, working knowledge of JCT forms of Contract.
• A good working knowledge of Listed Building applications and administration of those applications as part of a specialist Historic Churches committee, that provides Listed Building Consent preparing reports for committee liaison with administration colleagues.

What you will need

• Working knowledge of projects working with Listed Buildings.
• Chartered Surveyor (Building/Quantity Surveying) (MRICS) or Chartered Builder (MCIOB) or Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or Equivalent, OR substantial Project Management/Building/Quantity surveying experience.
• 5 years plus, post qualification experience and a sound knowledge of traditional building techniques.
