A leading housing charity is seeking an experienced Asset Building Surveyor to manage projects in London with a hybrid work environment. You will undertake building surveys, analyze stock data, and deliver projects aimed at improving asset performance. The office base is Liverpool Street, London; however, this is a hybrid role, with a current working pattern of two days in the office and the rest from home. National travel is expected a couple of days per month.

Salary circa: £47,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience, with great benefits!

As our new Asset Building Surveyor, you’ll be part of the Building Surveying and Asset Delivery team, a small but mighty group known for tackling some of the trickiest projects. We’re not-for-profit, so every smart decision you make helps more people live in safe, high-quality housing. You’ll use your technical know-how and creative thinking to look at our housing stock with fresh eyes, seeing what could be better, and how to make it happen.
You’ll manage your own projects from start to finish, with plenty of support when needed. This role offers real ownership and growth opportunities, backed by a team dedicated to collaboration, problem-solving, and doing the right thing for our customers.
Typical day as an Asset Building Surveyor
· Undertake building surveying and inspections, providing creative solutions to maximise asset performance, addressing issues such as complex defects, non-traditional stock, and reconfiguring existing schemes for new uses.
· Analyse existing stock data, gather additional information from specialists, and prepare long-term investment plans.
· Deliver bespoke projects from initial findings through to specifications, appoint project teams, and drive projects to completion.
· Maintain a good commercial understanding of assets by evaluating and conducting financial appraisals of schemes.
· Attend site meetings regularly, acting as the client, and keep project teams and stakeholders informed of any variations.

You have
· An MRICS or MCIOB accredited Building Surveying degree or equivalent experience.
· Experience managing projects (private or public sector) from inception to completion, including appointing project teams and securing approvals. Familiarity with the planning system and implementing compliant schemes, including decent homes, is essential.
· Expertise in property condition surveys, inspections, specifying remediation works, and collaborating with external partners.
· Current knowledge of building construction, design, CDM requirements, codes of practice, regulations, standards, and materials.
· Experience creating tender and construction documentation, schedules of work, specifications, drawings (using AutoCAD Lt), and MS Project.
