Job summary

Exchange Street Claims ltd is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor in Leicester. You will primarily deal with properties affected by general perils (fire, flood, storm, etc.), with subsidence experience welcomed.

The role includes claim evaluation, client communication, validation, and end-to-end project management, with emphasis on compliance and contractor management. The candidate should have a Building Surveying degree (BSc Hons) and, ideally, MCIOB/MRICS qualifications.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Surveying (BSc Hons).
• Ideally MCIOB or MRICS qualified, though not essential.
• Relevant loss adjusting/building surveying experience preferred.
• Subsidence project management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Claim evaluation: review client information and conduct site visits to validate policy cover and scope.
• Customer interaction: communicate with policyholders to gather information and explain liability and scope decisions.
• Claim validation: create repair schedules and validate variations per policy terms.
• Project management: oversee the end-to-end claim process from damage assessment to final report.

Job description

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Building Surveyor for Leicester. You will mainly deal with properties affected by general perils (fire, flood, storm etc) but additional subsidence experience would be useful.

The Role

• Claim Evaluation: Review all information from clients and claim handlers and conduct detailed site visits to validate claims for policy coverage and scope.
• Customer Interaction: Communicate with policyholders to gather additional information and inform them of policy liability and scope decisions.
• Claim Validation: Use company tools to create repair schedules and validate variations requests based on policy terms. Be able to interpret policy wordings and apply insurer claims' handling philosophies and guidelines
• Project Management: Oversee the entire claim process, from damage assessment, validation, repair scoping / scheduling, fulfilment to final report submission.
• Compliance: Ensure all processes comply with company policies, procedures, and Health & Safety legislation.
• Contractor Management: Appoint relevant contractors (e.g., asbestos, drying and restoration specialists, building contractors, etc) and provide clear instructions from the outset of the claim.

Skills / Qualifications

• Relevant Loss Adjusting / Building Surveying experience is desired.
• Prior subsidence project management experience, perhaps.
• Degree in Building Surveying (BSC Hons).
• Ideally you will be MCIOB or MRICS qualified, although this is not essential.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent customer service, organizational & communication skills.
