A local council in the UK is seeking a Building Surveyor to join its Corporate Asset and Facilities Management team. The ideal candidate will oversee maintenance and development projects for a diverse property portfolio, including heritage buildings. Following the promotion of the current postholder, an opportunity exists for a Building Surveyor to join the Council’s Corporate Asset and Facilities Management (CAFM) Service. You will contribute to our goals by delivering maintenance and development of a diverse property portfolio, including heritage buildings like Halifax Town Hall. The CAFM Service manages around 300 buildings, including leisure facilities, offices, and heritage sites.
The Facilities Management (FM) Technical Team acts as an intelligent client, overseeing specialist works, monitoring buildings, and managing programmes of work across the estate. The team handles capital projects, significant building works, and an annual revenue budget of approximately £2 million.
This role offers diverse responsibilities, including defect inspections, condition surveys, refurbishment schemes from inception to completion, tendering, procurement, and contract administration. You will collaborate with external consultants, lead project briefing, and prioritize works with stakeholders to meet statutory and budget requirements, maximizing asset performance and longevity. The post involves overseeing capital projects and major works.
