Derby-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to support management and improvement of a large residential housing portfolio. You will deliver surveying activities across occupied and void properties, ensuring safety, compliance and high maintenance standards.

This role offers the chance to lead capital works, repairs and planned maintenance, supervise contractors, conduct condition surveys, and provide expert advice on defects, disrepair, and asset strategies

Qualificações

• Degree in Building Surveying or related discipline.
• Chartered MRICS or MCIOB/CIOB membership.
• Experience managing residential housing projects in public sector environments.
• Strong knowledge of building construction, defects diagnosis, and contract administration.
• Understanding of housing legislation, repairs and maintenance practices.
• Experience procuring and managing contractors.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsabilidades

• Undertake inspections of residential properties, identifying defects and recommending remedial works.
• Prepare specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation.
• Manage planned maintenance, refurbishment and capital investment projects.
• Oversee contractor performance, quality, cost and programme delivery.
• Conduct condition surveys and contribute to stock investment strategies.
• Provide expert technical advice on building defects, disrepair claims and property maintenance matters.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, health and safety and council policies.
• Support Decent Homes, asset management and sustainability initiatives.
• Produce technical reports, project updates and budget forecasts.

The Opportunity

Working within the Property and Housing team, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of surveying activities across occupied and void residential properties, ensuring homes remain safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard.
