Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is seeking a dedicated Building Surveyor to provide temporary support in managing and supervising building works across the organisation's property portfolio in Chelmsford.

The role requires hands-on engagement in ensuring quality and efficiency of building services, with responsibilities including contractor supervision, defect response, and surveys. A valid driving licence is required and the assignment is paid at £20.92 PAYE per hour.

Qualifications

• HNC/D in Construction or equivalent.
• Proven building surveying and contractor management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and Health & Safety requirements.
• Full driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage contractors executing day‑to‑day repairs and maintenance.
• Respond to reactive building defect requests and specify remedial works.
• Conduct surveys and inspections, documenting findings in the Council's software system.
• Prepare and submit contract documents for maintenance works and building alterations.
• Liaise with premises managers, procurement teams and legal services to ensure compliance with policies and laws.
• Maintain detailed records of all reactive works with data accuracy in the maintenance software.
