Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or Construction.

Role Overview

As part of a national team of Surveyors, you will conduct building condition and risk surveys on Tesco stores, offices, and distribution centers. This regional, field-based role supports our building maintenance strategy and involves collaboration with development and maintenance teams, including structural engineers and specialists, to diagnose building defects and support property programs and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct building dilapidation and defect diagnosis inspections, liaising with maintenance teams to implement appropriate solutions.
  2. Perform surveys and inspections to identify risks, plan repairs, and prepare specifications.
  3. Ensure quality and cost assurance of maintenance works.
  4. Review contractor estimates for accuracy and value.
  5. Assist in developing planned maintenance regimes for our estate.
  6. Provide technical input for maintaining building fabric across various types of buildings.
  7. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure compliance and effective solutions.
  8. Lead maintenance projects aimed at improving building maintenance and health & safety standards.
  9. Ensure statutory compliance related to building maintenance (e.g., CDM, Work at Height, Asbestos).
  10. Contribute to design standards and survey processes to specify appropriate materials and relevant outputs.

Experience:

  • Chartered RICS/CIOB Building Surveyor or working towards this qualification
  • Degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or Construction
  • Experience in retail or similar sectors is desirable
