Job description

We are working with a Tier 1 contractor based near Reading to recruit a freelance Building Services Manager for the business.

The company is a national brand with an excellent reputation in their marketplace and has strong long-term relationships with clients, subcontractors, and the wider supply chain. They adopt a forward-thinking approach to staff engagement and offer opportunities for career growth and development. The regional office is near Reading, covering the M4 Corridor down to the South Coast, with projects in education, public sector, retail, leisure, and commercial markets, involving negotiated and framework opportunities. Turnover for 2022 and 2023 has been secured, with plans for 2024, allowing them to be selective about new work.

Current projects include new build SEN schools, primary schools, leisure centre refurbishments, Blue Light schemes, and two new build RC frame office developments.

The role involves taking full responsibility for services packages across various projects. You will work with the site delivery team to oversee services on site, manage subcontractors during installation, and handle technical queries through to commissioning and handover. This is a genuine cradle-to-grave opportunity to see your ideas and plans come to life on site.

Ideal candidates will have experience with both mechanical and electrical services, from either main contractor or specialist subcontractor backgrounds, with experience in pre-construction and delivery. A degree qualification is preferred, but candidates who have worked their way up from the tools are also encouraged to apply.

The role is inside IR35, and employment options are PAYE or Umbrella only. The expected duration is until December 2025.
