Overview

Robert Walters is partnering with a prestigious financial services organisation to recruit a Building Services Manager. This is a London-based role focused on overseeing the day-to-day operations of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems across two key sites: Broadwalk House and 5 Churchill Place. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring uninterrupted, high-quality M&E service delivery in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Location: London | Reporting To: PCS Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Oversight: Act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and the external M&E services provider. Support the Facilities Operations Manager in managing daily activities and service delivery.
  • Contractor Management: Monitor performance of M&E contractors to ensure timely completion of reactive and planned maintenance tasks. Uphold service standards and drive continuous improvement.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Coordinate and programme maintenance works to minimise disruption to business operations.
  • Supervisory Support: Provide operational and financial oversight of the M&E contract. Support client engagement and ensure contract compliance.
  • Building Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to verify equipment functionality and maintenance standards. Update asset registers as required.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Assist in auditing M&E contracts, reviewing health & safety documentation, and maintaining statutory compliance records.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Collaborate with the wider PCS team to implement energy-saving measures and smart building technologies. Manage electricity consumption data and reporting.
  • Project Support: Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, fit-outs, and refurbishment projects. Provide technical input and project coordination.
  • Budget & Procurement: Monitor contract expenditure and manage purchase orders and invoicing through internal systems.
  • Landlord Liaison: Interface with building management teams to ensure alignment on systems impacting daily operations (e.g., HVAC, lighting controls).
  • Health & Safety: Support the Facilities Operations Manager in maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with risk assessments and safety protocols.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • A-level education or equivalent
  • Proven experience in building services management
  • Strong understanding of health & safety legislation
  • Project management experience in refurbishments, equipment installations, and office moves
  • Technical knowledge of building systems
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and CAD
Desirable Qualifications
  • HND or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification
  • Familiarity with Trend BMS, lighting controls, and technical drawings
  • Approved Person registration
  • Up-to-date knowledge of electrical regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Organised and results-driven
  • Flexible and adaptable team player
  • Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines
Special Role Requirements
  • Availability for emergency response and critical plant failures (24/7 as part of a wider team)
  • Flexibility with working hours to meet departmental needs
