Building Services Engineer – Nuclear/Defence
Location:Plymouth -(Hybrid 2/3 days per week)
Type:Permanent or Contract (Outside IR35)
Security Clearance:Active SC clearance required
Nationality Requirement:Sole British Citizens only

Copello is working with a leading engineering organisation within the Nuclear and Defence sectors to recruit aBuilding Services Engineerto support secure infrastructure programmes. This position plays a crucial role in the design, delivery, and compliance of mechanical and/or electrical building services across complex facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver detailed design, specification, and integration of building systems (e.g. HVAC, lighting, power, plumbing)

• Ensure full compliance with defence, nuclear, and building regulations and standards

• Collaborate with project teams, architects, safety engineers and stakeholders to develop integrated solutions

• Support through the full project lifecycle including planning, documentation, and technical oversight during construction and commissioning

• Maintain high-quality documentation and contribute to design assurance and governance reviews

What We’re Looking For:

• Degree-qualified in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

• Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g. CIBSE, British Standards, JSPs)

• Demonstrable experience in secure environments such as defence, nuclear or highly regulated sectors

• Utilise CAD/BIM tools to create models and blueprints.

• Must hold current SC clearance and be a sole British citizen(dual nationals cannot be considered due to security restrictions)
