Building Services Engineer (Mechanical)

39,105 – 45,163 per annum with excellent benefits package (including 27 days annual leave + 6 closures days + Bank Holidays) – 37 hours per week

The University of Leicester is seeking to make the appointment to the role of Building Services Engineer (Mechanical).

The University of Leicester is a global player in education and research, adapting to changing landscapes and seizing opportunities to shape the future. The estate extends to a total site area of 95 hectares, comprising a non–residential estate of 110 buildings covering around 200,000m2 and a residential estate of 191 properties. The majority of the academic facilities are located to the south of Leicester city centre with a main campus supplemented by a number of satellite properties nearby. The Building Services Engineer (Mechanical) within Estates and Digital Services will specify, source and maintain mechanical assets including but not limited to mechanical systems.

Reporting into the Senior Building Services Engineer (Mechanical), the Building Services Engineer (Mechanical) will proactively manage, maintain and repair those assets through a planned maintenance programme, ensuring that all assets are delivered to a defined quality in a safe and cost–effective manner in support of University requirements and statutory compliance. You will be responsible for mechanical systems, including heating and chilled water, verifying correct operation, be proactive on system failures and support RM technicians with solutions.

We are seeking an individual who is an experienced Heating or Building Services Engineer with a broad knowledge of commercial systems and water treatment and who comes with a strong trade background, ideally within Public Sector buildings. You will be a qualified Building Services Engineer who shows a broad range of knowledge and experience in heating and cooling systems, reactive minor works, mechanical compliance and planned maintenance. The role also works closely with the Project Management team, so you will also be able to demonstrate knowledge of the construction process, project briefing, project procedures and have an understanding of relevant legislation and its impact on the University sector. Key behaviours include being self–motivated, having a good work ethic and working well individually and collectively as part of a team.
