Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex PPM and reactive repairs on HVAC systems.

  • Diagnose complex mechanical faults and implement effective repairs.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Communicate professionally with management and tenants.
  • Supervise specialist subcontractors ensuring quality and compliance.

Are you a highly skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking for a dynamic role within a prestigious commercial office environment in the heart of the City of London? Do you excel in maintaining complex HVAC, pump, and pressure mechanical systems? My client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team, responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, efficiency, and safety of all mechanical building services within an 11-floor commercial office building.

This role offers a consistent Monday to Friday schedule with a split shift pattern, a competitive salary, and ample opportunities for overtime.

Location: City of London (11-floor Commercial Office Building)

Salary: £45,000 per annum + Overtime

Hours: Monday to Friday, Split Shift (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM and 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM rotational)

The Role:

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be a vital part of the on-site engineering team. Your primary focus will be on the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair of the building's critical mechanical infrastructure. You will leverage your expertise in HVAC, pump, and pressure systems to ensure a comfortable and operational environment for all occupants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • HVAC System Maintenance: Perform routine and complex PPM and reactive repairs on HVAC systems, including Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), Chillers, and associated components. This includes filter changes, belt replacements, motor changes, and actuator adjustments.
  • Pump & Pressure System Expertise: Maintain, fault-find, and repair various pump systems (e.g., heating, chilled water, boost cold water), expansion vessels, and pressurisation units.
  • Steam & Heating System Management: Service and repair steam boilers, calorifiers, heat exchangers, hot water systems, and associated pipework.
  • Fault Finding & Diagnostics: Diagnose complex mechanical faults and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime and disruption.
  • Pipework & Drainage: Maintain, repair, and install pipework, including drainage, flushing, leak fixing, and pipe replacement.
  • Building Management Systems (BMS): Monitor BMS for performance, identify anomalies, and make adjustments to optimize system efficiency.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Complete job sheets, compliance logs, and maintenance reports using a CMMS.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, risk assessments, and SSOW.
  • Client & Tenant Liaison: Communicate professionally with management, tenants, and stakeholders, providing updates and minimizing disruption.
  • Contractor Supervision: Supervise specialist subcontractors ensuring quality and compliance.
About You:
  • Mechanically Qualified: Recognized qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC).
  • Proven Maintenance Experience: Experience in a commercial office setting is essential.
