Job summary

Acorn Engineering Limited is seeking a Foot Mobile Engineer to cover a prestigious Central London patch. This walking mobile role involves travelling between client sites on foot and via public transport, requiring organisation, proactivity and independent work with a strong service focus.

You will perform PPM, servicing and reactive repairs across a varied client portfolio, with support from a dedicated helpdesk and contract management team.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Time-served mechanical or maintenance engineer (apprenticeship preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing and reactive repairs across assigned sites.
  • Attend call-outs during normal working hours and participate in the out-of-hours emergency rota.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with the internal helpdesk and administration teams.
  • Accurately complete reports, job sheets and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain log books and site records.
  • Ensure punctual attendance, professional presentation and correct use of PPE.

We are recruiting a Foot Mobile Engineer to cover a prestigious Central London patch.

This is a walking mobile role, with engineers travelling between sites on foot and via public transport. The position suits someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable working independently while maintaining high standards of service across multiple client locations.

You will carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing and reactive repairs across a varied portfolio of client sites, working independently but supported by a dedicated helpdesk and contract management team.

Package & Benefits

Location: Central London
Salary: up to £44000 depending on experience plus overtime and callout
Hours: 41.25 hours a week

Key Responsibilities

What We Are Looking For
Knowledge & Competencies
  • Good working knowledge of M&E building services
  • Experience with HVAC plant including air conditioning, boilers, controls, heating and ventilation
  • Understanding of Legionella control
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Time‑served mechanical or maintenance engineer (apprenticeship preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Personal Skills
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Highly organised and self‑motivated
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
  • Able to assess faults and make informed maintenance decisions
