Building Services Engineer

Department: Corporate Services and Facilities

Salary: £43,151 - £46,387
Plus, Recruitment and Retention Allowance £2,500 per annum.

This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week, open to flexible, compressed, and part-time working patterns with a minimum coverage of 30 hours Monday to Friday. You will be part of an on-call rota, typically for a week every six weeks, for which you will receive an on-call allowance.

About the Role

You will work on an estate with advanced technical facilities, supporting security and maintaining a diverse campus with manufacturing workshops, engineering laboratories, clean rooms, server rooms, and offices. The estate includes buildings of various ages and infrastructures.

You will handle a fast-paced environment, managing projects from delivering new facilities to statutory compliance work, and responding to system failures. Your role involves project management, reactive repairs, and using analytical skills to diagnose issues.

Team and Development

You will join a supportive team with opportunities for professional development, including externally recognized courses such as CIBSE and in-house training.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Professional qualification in building services and/or relevant experience.
  • Understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of building regulations, safety standards, and sustainable technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience with ISO standards like ISO 50001, ISO 14001.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.
