Building Services Engineer

Department: Corporate Services and Facilities

Salary: £43,151-£46,387 plus Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £2,500 per annum

This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week, open to flexible, compressed, and part-time working patterns with a minimum of 30 hours, Monday to Friday. You will be part of an on-call rota, typically for a week every six weeks, for which you will receive an allowance.

About the Role: You will work on an estate with advanced technical facilities, supporting security and maintaining a diverse campus with manufacturing workshops, laboratories, server rooms, and offices. The campus features buildings of various ages and infrastructures. Your responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing facilities, managing projects from new installations to statutory compliance, and responding to system failures using analytical skills.

You will join a supportive team that encourages professional development through courses such as CIBSE and in-house training. Your role involves project management, reactive repairs, and system diagnostics.

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification in building services or relevant experience
  • Understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Knowledge of building regulations, safety standards, and sustainable technologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Desirable skills include experience with ISO standards, AutoCAD, and strong communication skills.

Personal Skills: You should enjoy managing diverse projects, building relationships, promoting flexible service delivery, and working effectively in a team. Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and adaptability are essential.
