• Oversee safe systems of work for in–house teams and contractors, ensuring compliance with statutory and HSE requirements
• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance programmes within agreed budgets, maintaining asset registers and records
• Manage small–scale projects, refurbishments, and improvements from inception to completion, including design, procurement, and commissioning
• Support compliance with all relevant regulations and codes of practice, particularly within specialist laboratory environments
• Promote energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, contributing to LSTM's Net Zero targets
• Supervise and monitor contractors, ensuring work meets required standards, timelines, and cost parameters
• Lead the development and implementation of Building Management Systems (BMS) across LSTM
• Undertake regular site inspections, risk assessments, and produce SOPs to support safe, efficient building services operations
You will possess:
• A BTEC HNC/HND or equivalent industry trade qualification in Mechanical Services, Engineering, or Building Services with significant post–qualification experience
• Proven experience managing building services projects from inception to completion, ideally in specialist laboratory/research environments
• In–depth knowledge of statutory regulations for mechanical plant and equipment, laboratory installations, and health & safety compliance (including Legionella, COSHH, and CDM regulations)
• Strong problem–solving, organisational, and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
• Proficiency in Building Management Systems (TREND) and modern energy conservation practices in HVAC, ventilation, and energy management
(For a full list of essential and desirable criteria please refer to the job description and person specification)
Additional benefits of joining LSTM:
