Building Services Engineer

Department: Corporate Services and Facilities

Salary: £43,151 - £46,387 plus Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £2,500 per annum

This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week, open to flexible, compressed, and part-time working patterns with a minimum coverage of 30 hours Monday to Friday. You will be part of an on-call rota, typically for a week every six weeks, for which you will receive an allowance.

About the Role: Do you want to work on an estate with incredible technical facilities where you can make a difference supporting security? You will use your knowledge of building services to maintain and enhance an expanding estate with diverse facilities, services, and utilities across multiple buildings. You will work across a dynamic campus with manufacturing workshops, laboratories, clean rooms, server rooms, and offices. The estate includes new constructions and older buildings, offering varied infrastructure challenges.

You will operate in a fast-paced environment, managing projects from delivering new facilities to statutory compliance work, diagnosing and fixing system issues, and overseeing reactive repairs.

You will join a supportive team that encourages professional development through courses, including externally recognized CIBSE certifications and in-house training.

About You:

Essential:

  • Professional qualification in building services or relevant experience
  • Understanding of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and building technology
  • Knowledge of building regulations, safety standards, and sustainable technologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 50001, ISO 14001)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD software
Personal Skills:
  • Enjoys managing diverse projects
  • Builds strong relationships and promotes responsive service delivery
  • Demonstrates analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Team-oriented and adaptable
Responsibilities:
