Job summary

Jobs247 is seeking a Building Services Engineer in Birmingham to lead assessments and recommendations for replacement, refurbishment, upgrade or maintenance of building services systems across our estate.

You will design and deploy solutions with focus on HVAC, electrical distribution, standby power and building controls, producing reports, risk assessments and lifecycle strategies to improve resilience and continuity.

Qualifications

• A qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, while you’ll need experience assessing and managing mechanical and electrical building services assets.
• Ability to translate technical findings into practical solutions.
• Experience within large or complex estates, public sector, healthcare, education, or commercial property environments.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, heating infrastructure, electrical distribution systems, standby power, and building controls.
• Experience conducting condition surveys and making lifecycle replacement recommendations.
• Knowledge of asset management and infrastructure resilience planning.
• Desirable, not essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies to reduce the risk of power outages, heating failures, and other critical service disruptions.
• Produce technical reports, risk assessments, feasibility studies, and engineering recommendations.
• Analyse asset failures and maintenance data to identify recurring issues and recommend long-term improvements.
• Identify single points of failure and develop solutions to improve estate resilience and business continuity.
• Assess the condition, performance, and reliability of M&E assets, determining whether systems require full redesign and replacement, targeted refurbishment, or individual component replacement.

Job description

The Building Services Engineer role centres on producing recommendations for full replacement, refurbishment, upgrade, or ongoing maintenance of building services systems.

Your technical focus
