Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking a Building Services Engineer to support delivery of mechanical building services and infrastructure at the Ascot venue under the M&E Team Leader. You will provide mechanical engineering expertise for asset maintenance, system reliability and operational performance to ensure ongoing estate operation.

The role requires formal mechanical/plumbing training, experience in building services, and strong fault-finding and BMS skills.

Qualifications

• Recognised formal mechanical or plumbing training (e.g., City and Guilds).
• Competencies in mechanical disciplines with relevant qualifications.
• Experience reading MEP drawings and operating BMS systems.
• Experience with fault-finding and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
• Catering equipment maintenance experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor reactive and PPM work orders via CAFM, ensure timely completion and accurate records.
• Uphold Health & Safety standards within the M&E team.
• Assist with contractor management including catering equipment maintenance contracts.
• Support onsite C.A.T scanning activities (training available).
• Monitor and analyse building performance data via the BMS platform.
• Fault-find and repair AHUs and FCUs; replace belts/filters as needed.
• Ensure reliable operation of mechanical services per procedures and logs.
• Conduct routine mechanical alarm testing with proper documentation.
• Assist with small-scale plumbing and mechanical installations for events.
• Participate in on-call rota providing out-of-hours support (1 in 5 weeks).

BJ172 – Building Services Engineer
Location: Ascot
Salary: GBP45,000 Per Annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 40 hours per week

Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of all mechanical building services and infrastructure across the venue, working under the direction of the M&E Team Leader.

You will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise to support long–term asset maintenance, system reliability and operational performance. Ensuring the longevity and efficient day–to–day operation of the estate's mechanical infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor and complete reactive and PPM work orders using the CAFM system, ensuring timely completion and accurate record–keeping
• Promote and uphold Health & Safety standards within the M&E team
• Support the M&E Team Leader with contractor management, including oversight of the catering equipment maintenance contract and associated service delivery
• Assist with onsite C.A.T scanning activities (training available if required)
• Monitor, document and analyse building performance data via the BMS platform, ensuring systems operate effectively
• Carry out fault–finding, maintenance and repair of AHUs and FCUs, including replacement of belts, filters, and associated components
• Ensure the reliable and efficient operation of all mechanical building services, in line with site operating procedures and standard maintenance practices
• Conduct routine mechanical alarm testing, ensuring all results and certification are documented accurately and maintained in compliance logs
• Support small–scale plumbing and mechanical installation projects, including temporary water and drainage provisions for race days and live events
• Support the team s on–call rota, providing out–of–hours support (1 in 5 weeks)

Skills and Qualifications:

• Recognised formal mechanical or plumbing training (e.g., City and Guilds)
• Relevant qualifications and competencies in a mechanical discipline
• Formal training in catering equipment maintenance and repairs (advantageous)
• Significant experience as a Building Services Engineer within a large organisation
• Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings
• Hands–on experience with BMS systems (advantageous)
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and COSHH requirements
• Proven experience in fault–finding techniques
