Job description

COURSE OVERVIEW

Building Services Engineering makes buildings work. Service and Maintenance Engineers play a key role in planning and completing a range of maintenance work encompassing industrial and commercial building services engineering systems such as ventilating, heating, water supply, waste (effluent discharge), and drainage. This includes related electrical isolation, disconnection, reconnection, and reactivation. They also complete planned preventative maintenance and undertake any required remedial repairs. In addition, they monitor and manage the operation of plant and equipment through building and energy management systems.

Suitability: The apprenticeship is suitable if you are currently or shortly due to manage a team of building service engineers as well as planning and completing a range of maintenance work encompassing industrial and commercial building services engineering systems such as ventilating, heating, water supply, waste (effluent discharge), and drainage.

Eligibility: Apprenticeships are available to people of all ages, who are either new to a role or looking to enhance their knowledge and skills within an existing role.

Duration: The apprenticeship will take a minimum of 48 months to complete, followed by an end-point assessment, taking place soon afterwards. This will be whenever you, your trainer, and employer all feel you are ready.

Professional Qualification Included: During the apprenticeship, you are required to achieve the Level 3 Heating and Ventilating Craftsperson qualification.

Progression: This apprenticeship provides an ideal entry into the occupation and supports progression within the sector.

Main Duties:

  • Engage in the day-to-day maintenance on site in the respective areas that form part of the apprenticeship.
  • Be willing to participate in all the requirements of the apprenticeship, including occasional travelling to the designated training facility incorporating overnight stays.
  • Participate in TEAMS meetings and calls which form part of the course.
