Join to apply for the Building Safety Project Manager role at Royal Borough of Greenwich

Royal Greenwich is proud to be a borough recognized for its modern, high-quality services and vibrant, diverse communities. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, we are committed to ensuring that our residents and tenants benefit from our ambitious plans to enhance the borough, even within a challenging financial climate.

About the Repairs and Investment Service:

Within the Housing and Safer Communities Directorate, our Repairs and Investment Service plays a key role in delivering responsive repairs, capital works, and comprehensive safety and compliance services to over 25,000 council tenants and leaseholders. We handle approximately 80,000 repairs annually, and this year will deliver capital programmes worth approximately £30m, working with a range of contractors. While the majority of our repairs are managed in-house, we also engage external specialists for certain services.

The Role: Building Safety Project Manager

As one of London's largest social landlords, our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our tenants and staff. To strengthen this focus, we have created a new Compliance team that will take ownership of the borough's safety initiatives.

We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and enthusiastic Building Safety Project Manager to join our Compliance team, with a particular focus on Building Safety & Resident Engagement. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing our building safety cases in line with the requirements of the Building Safety Regulator, collaborating closely with the Fire Safety team and other key stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in the six major compliance areas, with a strong emphasis on building safety and resident engagement.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, elected members, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A strong understanding that processes, procedures, and effective management are vital to ensuring the safety of our tenants and the integrity of our buildings.
  • IT proficiency, including advanced Excel skills.
  • An enthusiastic, solution-oriented approach that fosters a positive ‘Can-Do’ culture within the team and across the service.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience in building safety, compliance, or relevant safety regulations is an advantage. However, training will be provided to support your development in this area.

Why Join Us?

  • We offer excellent career progression opportunities and continuous professional development to help you reach your potential.
  • Be part of a dedicated and supportive team, where your work will make a direct impact on the safety and wellbeing of our residents.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, with the chance to work in one of London’s most prestigious and forward-thinking boroughs.

If you’re passionate about making a real difference in the safety and lives of our residents, we’d love to hear from you!
