Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking a Building Safety Officer to join the Building Safety Team in the Compliance Service. The role focuses on building safety compliance under the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Fire Safety Act 2021, covering council housing, commercial properties and buildings regulated by private sector housing.

You will support the Fire and Building Safety Manager, advise other council areas on building safety, and operate in a hybrid working setting with interviews scheduled

Job description

This Building Safety Officer post sits in the Building Safety Team within the Compliance Service at Portsmouth City Council. The work centres on building safety compliance under the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2021, covering structural and fire safety across council housing, commercial property and buildings regulated by private sector housing. The role supports the Fire and Building Safety Manager and advises other council areas on building safety. Hybrid working is available, and the right to work in the UK is required; interviews are set for 7 December 2026.
