Job summary

Pertemps London is recruiting a Resident Engagement Building Safety Officer to support safety initiatives and resident engagement across London properties. The role sits in the Compliance function and offers a long-term opportunity with hybrid working and site visits.

You will engage with residents on safety matters, carry out inspections, and help maintain PEEPs/PCFRAs, while coordinating with Housing Officers and external contractors. A proactive, detail-oriented approach is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support resident engagement across high-rise and higher-risk buildings over 11 metres.
• Engage with residents regarding building safety, communal repairs and safety concerns, ensuring issues are recorded and resolved.
• Conduct regular site visits and joint inspections with Housing Officers and Resident Engagement teams.
• Complete and maintain PEEPs and PCFRAs, including annual reviews, and update Premises Information Boxes.
• Inspect communal areas for fire and building safety issues, including fire doors and detectors.
• Identify and report issues such as combustible materials, damp, mould, leaks and other communal defects.
• Raise work orders and monitor fire door surveys, communal inspections, remedial works and building safety programmes.
• Liaise with contractors, managing agents and building owners to coordinate works and compliance information.
• Monitor contractor performance and follow up outstanding repairs and resident access issues.
• Maintain accurate M&E records, compliance documentation and audit evidence.
• Prepare reports and resident communications while ensuring compliance with Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2022.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, residents, contractors and emergency services during emergencies and other operational requirements.

Salary: 18-19.50 per hr

Contract: Ongoing / Long-term opportunity with potential to go permanent

Working Pattern: Hybrid, with regular site visits: Office - based work is scheduled on Monday (all day), Tuesday morning, Wednesday (all day) & Friday afternoon. Other duties may also apply as of when requested by the line manager.

Driving Requirement: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle essential

Due to continued investment in building safety and resident engagement, they are looking to appoint a Resident Engagement Building Safety Officer to join their Compliance function. This is a relatively new and evolving position within the organisation, offering the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of resident engagement practices, building safety initiatives and compliance processes.The role is expected to be long-term, providing significant opportunities for professional development and exposure to a broad range of building safety, compliance and resident engagement activity.

The Role

As a Resident Engagement Building Safety Officer, you will play a key role in supporting effective resident engagement across higher-risk buildings and residential blocks, particularly buildings over 11 metres in height. Working closely with the Compliance Manager, Compliance Officer, Housing Officers, Resident Engagement teams and external contractors, you will help ensure that building safety concerns are identified, recorded, communicated and appropriately followed through.

The role combines resident engagement, building safety inspections, compliance administration, contractor liaison and site-based activity, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a varied role and is confident working independently across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support resident engagement across high-rise and higher-risk buildings, particularly properties over 11 metres.
• Engage with residents regarding building safety, communal repairs and safety concerns, ensuring issues are recorded and resolved.
• Conduct regular site visits and joint inspections with Housing Officers and Resident Engagement teams.
• Complete and maintain PEEPs and PCFRAs, including annual reviews, and update Premises Information Boxes.
• Inspect communal areas for fire and building safety issues, including fire doors, open risers, smoke detectors, signage, AOVs and dry risers.
• Identify and report issues such as combustible materials, damp, mould, leaks and other communal defects.
• Raise work orders and monitor fire door surveys, communal inspections, remedial works and building safety programmes.
• Liaise with contractors, managing agents and building owners to coordinate works, access and compliance information.
• Monitor contractor performance and follow up outstanding repairs, remedial works and resident access issues.
• Maintain accurate M&E records, compliance documentation, resident engagement trackers and audit evidence.
• Prepare reports and resident communications while ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2022.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, residents, contractors and emergency services, providing support during emergencies and other operational requirements.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates with experience in social housing, housing associations, local authorities, building safety, compliance, property services or resident engagement.

You will ideally have experience of working within residential properties and have a good understanding of building safety and fire safety compliance.

You should be:

• Experienced in a housing, property, compliance or building safety environment.
• Confident undertaking property and communal area inspections.
• Experienced in engaging with residents and handling safety-related concerns.
• Knowledgeable of PEEPs, PCFRAs, fire doors and communal fire safety.
• Familiar with the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2022.
• Comfortable working with contractors and monitoring remedial works.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Confident producing accurate records, reports and compliance documentation.
• A strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
• Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• IT literate with experience using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
• In possession of a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle - essential.
