The role:

This an exciting new role within Winchester City Council’s housing team.

We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual to play a key role in managing the Building Safety function across high risk properties within WCC’s housing portfolio to ensure full and auditable compliance.

As Building Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the management of the Building Safety Work streams on blocks/ schemes assigned to you, and related projects including project planning, preparing project briefs and assisting with the management of the Building Safety programme. You will assist with the implementation of the council’s Building Safety strategy ensuring buildings and services meet the needs of the people who live & work in them.

The role of Building Safety Manager will include:

• Ability to acquire/collate all relevant “Golden Thread” information and lead on the production, updating and submitting of the safety case report that comply with the requirements of The Building Safety Act 22.
• Ability to be a technical authority on all aspects of building safety to support the wider business
• Ability to manage a program of audits and inspections ensuring safety case is always current based on review dates.
• Identify, monitor and assess building safety risks in the building, including by working with internal fire and compliance teams
• Working directly with residents, as well as those helping to keep them safe, such as on-site staff and Housing Officers
• Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and technical guidance notes
• Residential (HRB) Building Management experience.

Qualification requirements for the role:

• CIOB Level 6 in building safety management or similar.
• IFSM qualification or similar
• Current knowledge of and experience working with the Building Safety Act and all secondary legislation that has followed.
• Continuous professional development and up to date knowledge of building/ fire safety standards through ongoing training or certifications (e.g IFE membership)
• GCSE levels 9-4 in Maths and English or demonstrable level of numeracy and literacy skills
• This role will require you to drive so a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
• There is a DBS check requirement for this role.
