We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Building Safety Manager to join our team.

As a subject matter expert on Building Safety, you will support Unite Students in fulfilling their responsibilities related to the Building Safety Act, legislation, and guidance. As part of our Centre of Excellence for Building Safety, you will proactively provide guidance, assistance, and support to ensure compliance with building safety duties. Working closely with teams throughout a building's lifecycle, you will promote a positive safety culture and best practices in Building Safety Management, helping to maintain Unite Students as the provider of choice.

What You`ll Be Doing

  • Provide specialist support, advice, and guidance on Building Safety to the business project team, fostering a unified approach to safety management.
  • Lead and manage the design, build, operation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Building Safety Management System, including Safety Cases and Reports, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory deadlines.
  • Engage with external consultants, utilizing their expertise to help achieve best practices in Building Safety.
  • Support the Development Team and consultants during the design and construction phases, ensuring safety standards are met for successful project completion and certification.
  • Advise and support operational teams to maintain best practices in Building Safety across the organization.
  • Continuously develop and improve the Building Safety Management System and related guidance.
  • Assist teams by championing safety best practices in system development, maintenance, testing, remediation, and projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including regulators and industry bodies, to stay ahead of emerging safety topics and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and implement role-specific safety training, knowledge, and competency tools for teams.

What We`re Looking for in You

  • CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a building safety or related role.
  • Membership of an accredited institution (e.g., IFE, CIOB).
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable safety improvements.
  • Knowledge of residential building safety requirements and best practices.
  • Ability to influence and lead across different teams and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and a proactive attitude towards changing priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work remotely with high accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to understand and meet customer needs.
  • Proficiency in technology and IT systems, including MS Office.
