A leading engineering consultancy in London is seeking a Building Physics Engineer to model energy performance and promote sustainable design in architecture. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with various teams, utilizing IES for building modeling and implementing renewable technologies. This role includes a 9-day fortnight, 25 days of annual leave, and a hybrid work model. Candidates should have strong modelling skills and a keen interest in environmental engineering.
Building Physics Engineer - To £45K + 9-day fortnight + Annual salary increase
As a Building Physics Engineer, you'll use your passion and knowledge in Architectural and Environmental Engineering to help model a blend of NZC buildings all around the world. Working closely with the Building Performance Engineers and Sustainability Consultants, you'll use IES to model and improve the energy performance of both new buildings and existing buildings.
You'll enjoy a diverse role as you undertake urban modelling, microclimate and energy studies, environmental data analysis, and conduct R&D into new or emerging technologies and modern methods of construction. You'll also work closely with the in-house team of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health) Design Engineers and help the Mechanical Engineers optimise the most suitable cooling and ventilation strategies.
Working to Nabers, WELL, or BREEAM standards you'll help model buildings that minimise energy and carbon and are fit for purpose.
Where possible, you'll promote the use of natural ventilation or passive methods and help integrate the most suitable range of renewable technologies into these developments.
In return, you'll receive 25 days' annual leave, get paid to have every second Friday off (as they operate a 9-day fortnight), and enjoy a hybrid working week of two days from the office.
You'll enjoy consulting directly with architects and clients through all RIBA Stages 2 - 7 of a project and carrying out POEs to ensure that completed projects perform in use as they were intended to during the early design stages.
You'll also benefit from working on a range of UK and international projects and get to really influence the sustainability elements on projects, and enjoy working in a close-knit, social, and friendly team.
Requirements
* Good modelling skills using IESVe (Or IES Apache HVAC), TAS, or Design Builder.
* Good awareness of Embodied Carbon and LCA.
* Keen interest in topics such as Sustainable design, building services, digital twins, parametric modelling, and architectural and environmental engineering.
