A great opportunity has arisen for a Building Operative within our Capital Estates and & Facilities Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne.

To work a 37.5 hour week, Four days working, Two Day off shift pattern working early and late shifts, either early 0800-1630 or late 0930-1800.

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced Building Operative to become part of a large team providing an excellent service to our patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible to ensure that they provide a comprehensive multidisciplinary domestic, portering and maintenance support service. Responsible for ensuring clean, safe and a comfortable environment is provided for patients, staff and visitors at all times.

Qualifications and Training

  • Good general education: reading, writing and basic numeracy skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of cleaning & CoSHH procedures
  • Understanding of basic maintenance tasks (e.g. changing bulbs, batteries etc.).
  • First Aid
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent experience in General Cleaning
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent experience in customer service.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year Previous experience working in a domestic/maintenance services role within a Hospital/NHS environment.
  • Experience working in a secure environment
  • Experience escorting contractors and staff.

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of cleaning procedures
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Understanding of the correct application of manual handling techniques and working at heights.
  • Understanding of the quality aspects of service procedure and audits.
  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements.
  • Understanding of PLACE audit process.

Personal Qualities

  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Good attention to detail (e.g. for checking compliance, tool and equipment list etc.).
  • Able to communicate effectively with patients, staff and visitors.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and knowing when to escalate issues.
