Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Building Operative to provide multidisciplinary domestic, portering and maintenance support across NHS facilities. You will help ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors at all times.

The role is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, on a 4 days on/2 days off shift pattern with early or late starts. Training in COSHH, health and safety, and general maintenance will be provided to support high

Qualifications

• Good general education: reading, writing and basic numeracy skills.
• Demonstrable knowledge of cleaning & COSHH procedures.
• Understanding of basic maintenance tasks (e.g. changing bulbs, batteries).
• NVQ 2 or equivalent experience in General Cleaning.
• NVQ 2 or equivalent experience in customer service.
• Minimum of 1 year Previous experience working in a domestic/maintenance services role within a Hospital/NHS environment.
• Experience escorting contractors and staff.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
• Understanding of PLACE audit process
• Understanding of the correct application of manual handling techniques and working at heights.
• Understanding of the quality aspects of service procedure and audits.
• Understanding of confidentiality requirements.
• Able to communicate effectively with patients, staff and visitors.
• Able to prioritise tasks and knowing when to escal
• Flexible team worker

Responsibilities

• Provide multidisciplinary domestic, portering and maintenance support.
• Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• Escort contractors and staff as required.
• Support PLACE audits and health and safety compliance.
• Report maintenance needs and assist with daily ward operations.

The post holder will be responsible to ensure that they provide a comprehensive multidisciplinary domestic, portering and maintenance support service.
