Multi-skilled Building Maintenance Engineer - Plumbing and Mechanical Bias

London Bridge Hospital

Full-time 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday), on-call required 1 in 4 weeks (Saturday during on-call).

We are seeking a Multi-skilled Building Maintenance Engineer, qualified in M&E services/plumbing or an engineering building services qualification such as City & Guilds or NVQ, to join our Estates team based at Guys Cancer Centre. This role is crucial in providing first-class building maintenance services within the hospital and satellite sites, covering reactive, project, and scheduled maintenance work.

What you'll do:
  1. Maintain, service, and test electrical and mechanical systems such as AHUs, air conditioning, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, and generators.
  2. Ensure a safe working environment and adhere to HCA Healthcare policies and procedures.
  3. Serve as the main contact for engineering and maintenance queries at 40 Bank Street.
  4. Carry out PPMs and daily checks, ensuring areas are well maintained and tidy.
  5. Work on planned maintenance schedules aligned with departmental goals.
  6. Implement water management control measures per the Water Risk Assessment, maintaining accurate records.
  7. Respond to and complete tasks logged on the CAFM system, prioritising emergency and reactive work.
  8. Coordinate with the Landlord Management team and attend update meetings.
  9. Manage on-site contractors, review RAMs, and raise permits to work.
  10. Assist with projects as needed.
What you'll bring:
  1. Relevant qualification such as City & Guilds or NVQ in plumbing or building services.
  2. Good understanding of BMS systems.
  3. Knowledge of Water Hygiene and Legionella Management.
  4. Experience in a hospital or similar environment.
  5. Knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH, and fire regulations.
  6. Excellent customer care and communication skills.
  7. Flexible approach to work.
  8. Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
