Job summary

A higher education provider is seeking a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to maintain and refurbish facilities across its UK campuses. The role involves preventative and reactive maintenance, compliance with health and safety regulations, and documentation management. Ideal candidates will have relevant certifications, experience in building maintenance, and a proactive approach to work. This role requires flexibility in working hours and may involve travel between campuses. Qualifications

• Must possess 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
• City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations required.
• Must have experience in building maintenance, especially M&E systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on buildings and equipment.
• Monitor the condition of GBS buildings and undertake repairs.
• Assist in planning refurbishment projects across campuses.

Skills

18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification

City & Guilds Level 2/3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent NVQ

Previous building maintenance experience including M&E systems

Manual skills and refurbishment techniques knowledge

The Role

The Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer will maintain, install, and refurbish fabric and the equipment across the GBS UK estates portfolio. They will monitor the condition of GBS buildings, undertake repairs and renovations, and assist Estates and Facilities in the planning of refurbishment projects. This role may require travel to other GBS UK campuses and demands flexible working to accommodate business operations. They will work a 40‑hour week, covering campus operating hours from Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 9:30 pm, with occasional out‑of‑hours work as required to minimise disruption and ensure the smooth completion of maintenance tasks.

Experience And Skills Required

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification

• Previous experience in building maintenance including M&E systems.
• Manual skills, knowledge of refurbishment techniques.
• A flexible and proactive approach to work with “can do” attitude.
• Familiarity with COSHH requirements for the equipment and chemicals being used.
• Interpersonal skill and ability to work on your own but at the same time part of the facilities wider team.
• Full, Clean Driving License.
