Building Maintenance Apprentice (Property Maintenance Operative, Plumbing & Domestic Heating Technician & Installation and Maintenance Electrician)

About the Role

We are currently looking for the apprentices in the following three areas:

  • Property Maintenance Operative Level 2
  • Plumbing & Domestic Heating Technician Level 3
  • Installation and Maintenance Electrician Level 3

Job Tile: Building Maintenance Apprentice
Salary: £24,500 per annum
Reporting To: Supervisor (Building Maintenance)
Full time (37 hours per week) but part time hours from 30 hours per week will be considered
Workspace:On-Site plus attendance at training provider

The Role:

Our Apprenticeship is designed to provide you with the experience and knowledge to develop the skills and competencies to assist in the provision of a building repairs and construction service provided on behalf of the NCSL, while gaining an industry qualification to the required standard of your trade.

Not only will you be supported by your supervisor you will have on the job mentorship from our highly skilled Operatives and support from all at NCSL.

A practical and rewarding way to gain a qualification in a trade and move into the workplace.

Key tasks:

  • To develop skills to undertake and assist with a range of repairs and maintenance tasks related to your qualification on council housing and non-housing stock.
  • To study and achieve the required standard of your qualification during the apprenticeship, a nationally qualified trade.
  • Submit assessments and a portfolio of work to prescribed deadlines, whilst shadowing and learning from a mentor / allocated tradesperson whilst in the workplace.
  • To attend college / training provider venue as directed to complete the academic requirements of the apprenticeship.
  • To assist in the promotion and development of working practices and procedures to improve the health and safety culture within the company.
  • To ensure compliance with organisational and service policies and procedures.
  • The post holder has a duty of care to work safely at all times and not to place themselves, colleagues or members of the public at risk by their activities/actions.

What you need to know:

The apprenticeship requires you undertaking an 18-month to 4-year national recognised qualification at a college or training provider in Norwich, or the surrounding area, as part of your 37 working hours per week.

For a Level 2 qualification you are required to have or expected to achieve a minimum GCSE Maths and English grade 2/E or Level 1 Functional Skills.

For a Level 3 qualification you are required to have or expected to achieve a minimum GCSE Maths and English grade 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills.

We’ll consider your application even if you don’t hold or are not expected to gain these grades, provision to you obtaining the required grades.
