Overview

Salary:£40,600 – £43,700 (depending on experience) + 6% performance bonus

Working location: Chepstow area / Field Based

Employment Type:Full Time, Permanent

Job summary:

As a Building Inspector, you will be a key member of our inspection service team, collaborating with registered builders to ensure homes meet NHBC Standards and Building Regulations, while providing expert guidance.

What you’ll be doing

Working from home and visiting construction sites daily, you will ensure that new homes meet NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, and relevant legislation. You will develop strong relationships with site managers to identify and prevent construction defects, helping manage insurance risk and ensuring quality homes for buyers.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided. You’ll manage your own schedule, with flexible start times, and weekends off to promote work/life balance.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant house-building or construction experience
  • Excellent communication skills to build rapport and establish credibility
  • Ability to influence and handle disagreements professionally
  • Analytical skills to support decision-making
  • Knowledge of house-building processes and trade interactions
  • Physical ability to visit sites and inspect buildings, including working at heights
  • Interest in industry standards and continuous learning
  • Customer focus and commitment to quality service

Education and Qualifications

  • Construction-related qualifications such as City and Guilds, HNC, HND, NVQ, or equivalent are desirable
  • Full driving license required

NHBC Building Safety Regulator Framework:

NHBC supports technical staff in registering with the Building Safety Regulator, offering training, development, and funding for assessment schemes and registration.
