Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Building Facilities Supervisor to lead a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, delivering planned and reactive works to high safety and quality standards. The role blends hands-on tasks with supervisory duties and requires coordinating engineers, apprentices and contractors.

The successful candidate will manage PPM, respond to breakdowns, and sustain accurate records while promoting a proactive health and safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Facilities Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Engineer or similar role within a building or facilities maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and supervising a team.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a facilities maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a hands-on working supervisor, carrying out maintenance activities while providing day-to-day leadership and direction to the engineering and facilities team.
  • Supervise and coordinate a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring workloads are appropriately allocated, prioritised and completed.
  • Support the planning, management and delivery of the site's PPM programme, ensuring scheduled tasks are completed within required timescales.
  • Coordinate and respond to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns, ensuring faults are made safe, contained and progressed through to full completion.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members when diagnosing faults and determining appropriate repairs.
  • Monitor outstanding works and ensure jobs are followed through to completion rather than remaining at temporary containment.
  • Ensure maintenance records, job updates and relevant documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Identify additional works arising from PPM inspections, reactive maintenance and general site observations.
  • Support the preparation of quotations for additional and remedial works, including identifying labour, materials and access requirements.
  • Carry out approved additional works and customer requests as required.
  • Coordinate with specialist contractors and suppliers where works cannot be completed by the in-house team.
  • Assist with the ordering and control of materials, tools and equipment required to complete works.
  • Maintain good communication with customers and stakeholders, providing clear updates on progress, delays and completion of works.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements and site procedures are followed.
  • Support management with team performance, workload planning, technical issues and continuous improvement.
  • Provide appropriate support and guidance to engineers, apprentices and other team members to develop capability across the team.

Shift Pattern:

Monday to Thursday: 07:00-16:00 and Friday: 07:00-13:00. The role also includes participation in the site's on-call rota, approximately 1 week in every 6 weeks, providing out-of-hours support when required.

About The Role:

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Building Facilities Supervisor to lead and support a multi-disciplinary facilities maintenance team. This is a working supervisor / tools-based role, requiring the successful candidate to combine strong technical ability with proven experience in supervising, motivating and coordinating a team.

The role is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault containment and completion of works, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and customer service.

The Building Facilities Supervisor will work closely with facilities management, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities

Experience and Skills Required
  • Previous experience in a Facilities Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Engineer or similar role within a building or facilities maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and supervising a team.
  • Strong hands-on maintenance experience with the ability and willingness to work on the tools alongside the team.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary maintenance environment.
  • Good understanding of planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance processes.
  • Experience managing faults from initial response and containment through to permanent repair and completion.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and coordinate engineers effectively in a busy operational environment.
  • Experience identifying additional/remedial works and supporting the preparation of quotations.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a facilities maintenance environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of the wider facilities management team.
  • Relevant technical/trade qualifications or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Working Hours & On-Call

The overall purpose of the position is to provide strong hands-on technical leadership to the facilities team, ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The supervisor will help ensure issues are properly managed from initial identification through containment, repair and final completion, while supporting the wider facilities operation and responding positively to additional customer requirements.
