This role is part time 22.5 hours, 3 days per week and paying £25,623 pro rata per annum.

OVERALL PURPOSE:
To coordinate the training, supervision, and management of the Buddy Support Worker programme at HMP Ashfield with occasional support in other prisons in the North West covering annual leave or sickness.
To provide high-quality, innovative, holistic, responsive support, advice, and intervention to ensure the needs of those who have health and social care needs are supported.
Works with:
Prisoners, Prisons, Local Authority Social Work Teams, Healthcare, Education, Probation, and other voluntary/third sector agencies in addition to Recoop & BCHA Teams.
Key responsibilities:
- To work within the contract, policies, procedures, and budgets set by the Recoop Board.
- To work closely with the Prison Service Quality Manager and Recoop Management Team, supporting the development and delivery of work-streams during the contract's duration.
- To recruit, plan, and deliver the Buddy Support Worker programme of training to prisoners, using available modules and resources, providing a consistent, quality service.
- To ensure organisational and individual statutory responsibilities are met regarding safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
- To promote engagement and retention of Buddies through delivery, observations, supervision, and providing support and follow-up training where required.
- To adhere to all prison health, safety, and risk requirements, including risk assessments of course delivery and Buddy engagement, following Prison Service Instructions (PSIs) and all procedural requirements.
- To promote equality and diversity and appropriate Buddy conduct throughout all delivery and Buddy engagement.
- To schedule monthly Buddy Forums for sharing good practices and raising concerns. Bi-monthly forums should include training opportunities in line with the contract.
- To support prison/local authority staff in understanding the training aspects and their involvement in supporting the programme.
- To work alongside nominated Wing Officers and Managers to enable them to support the Buddies daily.
- To maintain all files (paper and electronic) meticulously for audit purposes and ensure accurate, complete records. All client data should be accurate and shared appropriately with stakeholders.
- To collaborate with the Data Manager and other partners within Recoop to develop consistent data and quality approaches and structures.
