Job summary

Aspire People is seeking passionate BSL Teaching Assistants to join our team on daily and long-term supply basis. This role supports students with hearing impairments, ensuring full access to the curriculum.

You will work with teachers to deliver engaging lessons, use British Sign Language, and help students build independence and confidence in a stimulating school environment.

Level 1 BSL is required with a willingness to continue development; daily supply flexibility and teamwork are valued.

Qualifications

• Level 1 BSL qualification is required, with a willingness to continue development.
• Experience working with students with hearing impairments or additional needs is desirable but not essential.
• Strong communication skills using British Sign Language to support learning.
• Patience and empathy when supporting diverse learners.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff in a fast-paced school.
• Flexibility to handle daily and long-term supply assignments.

Responsibilities

• Support students who use British Sign Language to access the curriculum and participate in lessons.
• Provide general classroom assistance and help with lesson preparation and small group activities.
• Interpret and support communication between students and staff using BSL.
• Promote student welfare and an inclusive, safe learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure engaging and supportive learning.
