Job summary

Bryland Fire is seeking an experienced Gas Suppression Service Engineer to inspect, service, maintain and commission gaseous fire suppression systems at customer sites nationwide. You will diagnose faults, conduct tests and ensure systems are compliant and ready to protect life and assets.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of fire suppression and detection equipment, plus regular travel to commercial buildings, data centres and industrial facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting, servicing and commissioning gaseous fire suppression systems.
• Strong practical knowledge of fire suppression and associated detection equipment.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on gas suppression systems.
• Attend reactive service and emergency call-outs.
• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair gaseous fire suppression systems.
• Carry out functional testing of suppression systems and related equipment.
• Test fire detection and releasing panels.
• Test interfaces with HVAC, BMS and other building services.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and control system faults.
• Assist with cylinder replacement and related tasks as trained.
• Identify defects, compliance issues and remedial works.
• Complete service reports and handover records.
• Maintain tools, test equipment and vehicle stock.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Gas Suppression Service Engineer to carry out inspection, servicing, maintenance, testing, fault finding, repairs, and commissioning of gaseous fire suppression systems across customer sites.

The successful candidate will have strong practical and technical knowledge of fire suppression systems and associated fire detection and releasing equipment. They will be responsible for ensuring systems remain fully operational, compliant, and ready to protect life and critical assets.

The role will involve regular travel to customer sites, including commercial buildings, data centres, industrial facilities, and other critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on gas suppression systems.
• Attend reactive service and emergency call-outs.
• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair gaseous fire suppression systems.
• Carry out functional testing of suppression systems and associated equipment.
• Test and fault-find fire detection and suppression releasing panels.
• Test interfaces with HVAC, BMS, access control, electrical systems, and other building services.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system faults.
• Assist with cylinder replacement, weighing, pressure checks, recharge, and associated works where suitably trained.
• Identify system defects, compliance issues, and recommended remedial works.
• Complete service reports, inspection certificates, test documentation, and customer handover records.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, and vehicle stock to an appropriate standards.
• Have a full UK driving licence.
