Job description

Gallagher Re is seeking an experienced broker to join its London-based EMEA treaty reinsurance team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in the P&C treaty reinsurance market, with strong technical, statistical, and broking skills. This role is based in our Walbrook office in London.

How you'll make an impact

The role involves working alongside the Client Advocate to support client management and broking functions. You will focus on developing and executing reinsurance transactions across various classes, utilizing Gallagher Re's resources. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders is essential.

  1. Engage frequently with colleagues across Gallagher Re offices serving the EMEA market.
  2. Collaborate with the Client Advocate and wider team (actuaries, Cat modelers, service teams) to build client advice.
  3. Manage daily account activities and initial development of structure, coverage, and marketing strategies.
  4. Review data, statistics, and information packs to support reinsurance placement and marketing efforts.
  5. Assist in creating slips to ensure optimal client coverage.
  6. Coordinate analytics and servicing resources, fostering a sense of community within the client team.
  7. Lead tender processes, structuring, and placement execution.
  8. Ensure high-quality accounting and claims servicing.
  9. Escalate issues to the Client Advocate and Partner as needed.
  10. Represent clients and Gallagher Re in the market.
  11. Manage and resolve client and reinsurer queries, including in-person engagements.
  12. Contribute to ad hoc projects, research, and report/presentation production.
  13. Support RFPs and tenders to promote Gallagher Re's growth.
About You

Qualifications
  • Chartered Insurance Institute qualification (Cert CII, Dip CII, ACII) preferred.
  • Experience in handling treaty reinsurance business.
Technical Knowledge
  • Understanding of clients’ financial and business environments and related reinsurance solutions.
  • Thorough knowledge of reinsurance products, especially property classes.
  • Ability to interpret vendor cat models and DFA output.
Experience
  • Experience in treaty reinsurance handling.
  • Ability to discuss risk, capital management, and regulatory issues affecting the industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and marketplace knowledge.
