Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Broadcast Network Operations Engineer to join a successful and growing broadcast service provider based in London on a initial 12 month fixed term contract. In this shift based (no night shifts) role, you will provide expert technical support, monitoring, and operational management for live broadcast services delivered to major sports events playing a crucial part in ensuring the flawless, high-availability delivery of live content to global broadcasters, primarily during event operations.What You'll Do

  • Oversee Live Broadcasts: Take charge of technical operations for major sports events, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted delivery of live video and audio feeds.
  • Monitor & Troubleshoot: Keep a close eye on network and broadcast systems, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact viewers.
  • Collaborate & Communicate: Work directly with clients, partners, and internal teams to provide exceptional support and quick solutions during high-pressure live events.
  • Maintain & Improve Systems: Help refine operational processes, document workflows, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our broadcast infrastructure.
  • Incident Response: Act swiftly to investigate, resolve, and document incidents, ensuring lessons are learned and shared across the team.

    Experience: Background in network or broadcast engineering, ideally in a live production or media transmission environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of IP networking (TCP/IP, UDP, RTP, Multicast), video encoding, and monitoring tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a track record of diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Attention to Detail: A methodical approach and the ability to stay focused in fast-paced, high-stakes situations.
  • Communication: Confident communicator able to explain technical concepts clearly and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, to support live event schedules.
  • Beneficial to Have
  • Hands-on experience with platforms like Net Insight Nimbra, Arista EOS, Mediakind, Appear, TAG, or Bridgetech.
  • Familiarity with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and fibre optic technologies.
  • Skills in Linux, Windows, and scripting (Python preferred).
  • Previous involvement in the broadcast of major sports or live events.
