At Global, we think big, work hard, and never stand still. We’re the proud home of the best media and entertainment, driven by our talented and passionate people. Our mission? To make everyone’s day brighter— our Globallers, our audiences, our partners, and our communities. Whether we’re in the studio, building world-class technology, or securing record outdoor advertising partnerships, we make sure we’re doing it as a team.

Your Role: Regional Broadcast Engineer

As a Regional Broadcast Engineer, you’ll be a key member of our team supporting Global in utilising technology effectively and efficiently to keep things working and our radio stations on air.

You’ll be based at one of our state-of-the-art Broadcast Centres and be part of a team of engineers supporting the region. You’ll participate in an on-call rota for emergency incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Support (60%): Proactively and reactively maintaining studios and other broadcast facilities, participating in an operational callout rota to provide urgent support outside of normal working hours. Providing support and training to non-technical Globallers in the use of our technology. Being a local representative of the Technology Operations team on all matters, including Broadcast Engineering, IT, Workspace, and Security.
  • Service Management (20%): Logging, prioritising, and progressing all incidents to completion. Managing planned change using industry-standard processes. Utilizing real-time monitoring solutions to identify and resolve incidents. Ensuring documentation is current and up to date.
  • Compliance and Policy Adherence (20%): Ensuring compliance with Technology, Data Protection, Information Security, and Health and Safety policies.

This role may involve working from other Broadcast Centres across the UK where necessary.

What You’ll Love About This Role

Think Big: Learn about, use, and support some of the most cutting-edge broadcast technology around.

Own It: You’ll be always learning something new and never knowing what might happen each day, keeping things fresh and exciting.

Keep it Simple: Being empowered to review what we do and how we do it, making things simpler wherever possible.

Better Together: Closely supporting radio programming on our great brands like Capital, Heart, and Smooth.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Gained a good working knowledge of the equipment in use at your site
  • Built strong relationships with your site team and the wider Technology Team
  • Learned about Global and its ways of working
  • Set and achieved a couple of achievable goals
  • Familiarized yourself with our incident management system and used it to manage your workload
  • Gained enough knowledge to take your first on-call rota shift
What You’ll Need
  • A basic knowledge of Electronics and Information Technology: Ability to follow simple circuit diagrams and familiarity with MacOS, iOS, and Windows 11.
  • Relevant experience and/or qualifications: Ideally in Radio Broadcast Engineering, but experience in TV or Audio Engineering is also valid. Volunteering in Student, Hospital, or Community Radio is also acceptable.
  • Understanding of service management principles: Knowing the difference between a P1 and a P4 incident.
  • A clean driving license: May be required to drive to other Global sites.
  • Great customer service skills: Ability to provide excellent service to Globallers, audiences, partners, and communities.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle priorities.
  • Problem solving: Ability to resolve issues quickly and calmly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Coaching and Development: Empowering and guiding individuals to unlock their potential.
  • Building Trust: Creating an inclusive environment that values diverse views and experiences.
Creating a Place We All Belong at Global

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive culture where every Globaller can belong. We believe in a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible, agile working arrangements. If you need reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please contact us via email.
